County Louth Visits.
USA
Vice President
Joe
Biden did visit Cooley, County Louth, Ireland,
on Saturday 25 June 2016. He travelled along the R173
to Carlingford
Town, situated along the Lough through which the Marchioness of Bute sailed in 1850, and visited the old Kilwirra Cemetery in Templetown
Townland and Lily Finegan's Pub in Whitestown Village.
As
President of the USA he again visited the Cooley area of County Louth, Carlingford
Castle and Dundalk Town on a cold, wet and wintry evening of 12 April 2023. The
entourage, in photo below, passed along the M1 motorway through Drumleck Townland a
few kilometers from Castlebellingham Village.
He was not the first USA President to pass this way.
President Bill Clinton passed along this MI on his way to Dundalk Town, on 12
December 2000, before the M1 was officially opened to general public use.
